We believe that our children should have clean air and fertile soil so their children can live.
We believe in care of animals and in providing education to our children.
We believe in art and science in providing a better future for us and your children.
Our purpose is to care for the soil we grow our grapes on, and make great wines.
We believe with minimal inputs, great wine can be made.
What is organic wine?
Organic wine starts in the vineyard! In the vineyard our aim is to enhance soil bio-diversity and maintain the soil fertility so the grapes can thrive. We do not use any artesian water to irrigate our vines, only from the sky.
We believe that not using harmful chemical; pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers, our land will be better for our children's future.
We believe in art and science of wine-making, such that a minimal approach is better.
Our purpose is to care for the soil we grow our grapes on, and make great wines.
We love what we do and you will find you can taste the difference.

Organic Wine SustainabilitySustainability is central to Harris Organic’s philosophy of vineyard management; we favour the slow food process of wine production - vital to physical and environmental health. Ultimately this has an end of caring for you and the environment.
Land that is cared for without irrigation from underground water allows the land to be used for future generations.
In winemaking we use minimal artificial energy sources. For example we built an underground cellar for naturally cooler storage temperatures while our wines likewise mature in oak, ultimately sealed in recyclable glass and cork. We use very small amounts of electricity in producing a litre of wine compared with the Swan Valley and Australian average.
History1922 - The Baskerville area of the Swan Valley was subdivided for viticulture and the first vines were planted in 1923.Duncan's ancestors were an entrepreneurial lot, with one Francois Girard, owning the Sydney Hotel and another, Michael Hayes, operating one of the first illegal distilleries in Australia. Duncan grew up in Tasmania's Tamar Valley, and came to Perth in the 1990s, eventually buying the property at Baskerville in 1998. While working full-time as an engineer, he spent every spare moment working to establish his winemaker’s dream of an organic vineyard and wine-making facilities at the Baskerville property. The winery cellar door opened in 2000.
In 2001 Duncan built an underground cellar in which to store and mature wines in a cooler environment without the need for artificial refrigeration.
In 2002 he built a tasting room cellar door, which is much more comfortable than the back of the old winery shed - although many of our long-time visitors miss the rustic surroundings!
In 2006 we became HARRIS ORGANIC WINES as we became certified organic with ACO as we wanted to highlight our organic wines and the organics industry.
In 2007 Duncan reproduced The Handbook of Horticulture and Viticulture of Western Australia - a labour of love and tribute to its author Adrien d' Espeissis. The first sparkling wine that was made on the premises is named "Madeleine Claire" after their daughter - this Traditional Method is a vintage sparkling Blanc de blanc.
As of 2010 the first Australian certified organic brandy became available from Harris Organic Wines.
In 2012 Harris Organic Wines launched its on-line wine shop, thanks to the help of his Organic Volunteer, Stuie from England.
In 2013 the first malbec wine was produced.
In 2015 the website was revamped into a responsive foundation theme as you see today, unfortunately without the help from Stuie.
